Instant

2010

Synopsis

From the moment man has started to walk, he has steadily wanted to push the limits of his evolution. As with the image of Usain Bolt pushing the boundaries of what is possible for human beings, our riders push their limits every day a little bit more.

In practice, for each sport featured, there is a share of adventure, risk, opportunity, and a specialist knowledge of nature and the elements. This is necessary now more than ever, as the spectrum for favourable conditions for their practice decreases. Is this the result of global warming? Or simply linked to the fact that the evolution of these sports is such, that it requires the correct result from too many variables to achieve perfect conditions.

In summation, the riders are on a perpetual search for the “Instant” that should not be missed, the tenth of a second in which the rider has to decide on when to initiate a curve that will lead to the correct axis to jump a cliff, or set a turn in the tube of a 10 meter swell. These world class athletes live for this tenth of a second, this lapse of time lived differently than a normal individual. Not because they are abnormal, they are simply non-standard.

This name “INSTANT” became the title of our latest production, which allowed us to travel through the world of the riders, the Chamonix Valley, Balearic and Canary Islands, Australia, Hawaii, Micronesia, Spanish Basque Country, Switzerland and Scotland, and discover all of their extraordinary yet humble personalities.
